Artist's Statement
A giclee (zhee-CLAY) is an individually produced, high-resolution, high fidelity reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclees are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. The term "giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.
They are priced midway between original art and regular limited edition lithographs. Limited edition litho prints are usually produced in editions of 500-1000 or more, all at once; but giclees rarely exceed 50-100 reproductions, one at a time.
Mr. Thee has enhanced each print with additional painting and detail. Making each piece individual and unique.
